At the request of some of our readers, discerning and literate bunch that you all are, commencing with the May 1, 2008 issue we began archiving the March Report in a form suitable for presentation. Be advised that some of the links to external sites on the archived pages will have gone dead. Morte. Kaputski. That being the case, archives will be deleted, or replaced with an image of the headline area only, as the page itself becomes useless (assuming that it wasn't to begin with, which may be presumptuous in and of itself).

 'Avatar' An Epic Success

Stephen Schaefer -- Boston Globe

Early results are in -- and it looks like James Cameron's got another winner. Twelve years after "Titanic" became the largest grossing movie in history, the director unveiled his 3-D science fiction extravaganza, "Avatar." Avatar" is reportedly the most expensive movie ever made -- estimates range from $230 million to $455 million. It was shot in digital 3-D with high-tech cameras that writer-director-producer Cameron himself designed and tells a story of the Navi, a hardy, blue indigenous people on the planet Pandora, where a military operation wants their valuable ore and is willing to destroy them. ...

British Writer Gets Sales Boost From Tiger Woods Crash

Agence France-Presse (FR)

Sales of a little-known British scientist's book have soared after it was pictured in Tiger Woods' crashed car, he said Thursday. "Get a Grip on Physics" by Doctor John Gribbin was photographed in a footwell of the car after the US golf superstar smashed it into a fire hydrant and a tree outside his Florida home last month. Within days of the pictures going round the world, the book's best-seller ranking on Internet retailer Amazon.com shot up from 396,224th position to 2,268th.

YEST "Berlin Heart" Is Experimental Device That Gives Time To Those Awaiting Heart Transplants

Sanjay Gupta -- CNN/CBS News

The Berlin Heart has been used more than 160 times in the U.S. since 2000. Each time, doctors have to get permission from the FDA, and have it flown in from Germany. The device takes over the heart's work of pumping blood. Tubes are implanted inside the heart. They emerge from small openings in the skin to enter the pump, which sends blood directly to the blood vessels that go to the rest of the body. ...

YEST Memories That Make Your Heart Race Can Be Defanged

Randy Dotinga -- HealthDay

A new study suggests that people might be able to reduce the power of fearful memories that cause physical symptoms when they're triggered. The research is preliminary, and study co-author Elizabeth Phelps cautioned that it doesn't provide an immediate cure for such conditions as anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. But it does offer some hope for new ways to treat them in the future, said Phelps, who directs a laboratory at New York University's psychology department. The key, she said, is to interfere with a memory "at a particular time when we know it may be vulnerable or susceptible to being changed." ...

Obama's Game Plan: Roadmap To Enforced Socialism

James Simpson -- American Thinker

Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven were two lifelong members of Democratic Socialists of America who taught sociology at Columbia University (Piven later went on to City University of New York). In a May 1966 Nation magazine article titled "The Weight of the Poor," they outlined their strategy, proposing to use grassroots radical organizations to push ever more strident demands for public services at all levels of government. The result, they predicted, would be "a profound financial and political crisis" that would unleash "powerful forces ... for major economic reform at the national level." It is that strategy we see unfolding before us, led by Barack Obama. ...

Cass Sunstein, Administrator Of The White House Office Of Information And Regulatory Affairs, Wants To Censor Right-Wing Websites

Aaron Klein -- World Net Daily

In his recently released book, "On Rumors," Sunstein specifically cited as a primary example of "absurd" and "hateful" remarks, reports by "right-wing websites" alleging an association between President Obama and Weatherman terrorist Bill Ayers. He also singled out radio talker Sean Hannity for "attacking" Obama regarding the president's "alleged associations." Ayers reportedly was involved in hiring Obama as chairman for the Chicago Annenberg Challenge -- a job Obama later touted as qualifying him to run for public office. ...

Barack Obama Admits He Will Miss Guantanamo Closing Deadline; Calls Stimulus Data Errors 'Side Issue'

FOX News

Barack Obama brushed off criticism over his administration's inaccurate reporting on job creation Wednesday, telling Fox News' Major Garrett the accounting is an "inexact science" and that any errors are a "side issue" when compared with the goal of turning the economy around. He said job growth is his No.1 responsibility. Obama Intel Pick Lauded Iranian Nuclear Program As 'Deterrent' Against Israel

Aaron Klein -- World Net Daily

The Obama administration's withdrawn nominee for a top intelligence post delivered a speech to a pro-Arab U.S. group in which he claimed that Israel has long assassinated peace-loving Palestinian leaders. Freeman was slated to head the National Intelligence Council but withdrew his nomination in March following revelations that he has financial ties to the infamous bin Laden family and that he sits on the board of a major oil company owned by the Chinese government that had been in the midst of a multibillion dollar deal with Iran that may violate U.S. sanctions. It is also alleged that Freeman once peddled a Saudi-funded book to U.S. public schools that falsely claims Muslims inhabited North America far before European explorers. ...

Obama's Secret Deal To Sabotage Israel

Barak Ravid and Natasha Mozgovaya -- Haaretz (IZ)

The reports indicated that Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad has reached a secret understanding with the Obama administration over U.S. recognition of an independent Palestinian state. Such recognition would likely transform any Israeli presence across the Green Line, even in Jerusalem, into an illegal incursion to which the Palestinians would be entitled to engage in measures of self-defense. ...

No Prompter, No Facts

Mike Bates -- News Busters

In his remarks about the Fort Hood shootings, Barack Obama did it again, illustrating the dangers of his giving shout outs without a teleprompter. "I want to thank my Cabinet members and senior administration officials who participated today. I hear that Dr. Joe Medicine Crow was around, and so I want to give a shout out to that Congressional Medal of Honor winner. It's good to see you," Obama said. The problem: Crow is not a Medal of Honor recipient; he is a recipient of the Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor. ...

For Tiger Woods's Sponsors, It's Wait And See

Emily Steel And Suzanne Vranica -- Wall Street Journal

As the din over Tiger Woods's car accident and alleged extramarital affairs grows louder, most of the golfer's corporate sponsors appear to be taking a page from the sports-marketing playbook: Wait to gauge any long-term fallout from the scandal and consider letting contracts lapse when they come up for renewal. Advertisers can't make "knee-jerk" decisions when crises like these hit, because "it's hard in the world of 24 hours of instant information to know you have the complete story," says Tony Pace, chief marketing officer for the Subway sandwich chain, part of Doctor's Associates. ...

YEST Uchitel's Provided Other Women For Tiger

deadspin.com

The biggest misconception about the Tiger cheating scandal is that Rachel Uchitel and Kalika Moquin, two of the first three women named by the tabloids, were his full-time lovers. They may have been at some point (especially Rachel, some say on numerous occasions) but that was not their primary function. No, Uchitel's main job was to provide women for Tiger during his globetrotting excursions to various tournaments, charity functions and private-jet weekends with his Fortune 500 party pals that he seemed to enjoy so much. Kalika Moquin? Many Las Vegas insiders doubt that she ever slept with Tiger. But she did set him up with some sweet VIP service at The Bank or at Bare like any good hostess would: a roomful of available girls with a certain look that Tiger wanted, flown in just for the occasion. ...

An Inconvenient Lie

NASA Stonewalling Stokes Fears Climategate Will Spread To U.S.

David A. Patten -- NewsMax

The next weather-science scandal may erupt right here in the United States. For nearly three years CEI, a free-market, public-interest organization, has pursued a series of Freedom of Information Act Requests intended to force NASA's climate-science division to hand over e-mails it says could reflect the same sort of pro-warming bias seen in the recent e-mails from the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) of East Anglia University. One reason NASA's unresponsiveness is drawing attention: For years, the CRU stonewalled a request filed through the British information-act process, before information was "hacked" and posted on the Internet in November. "They have resisted and haven't wanted to turn anything over," CEI Energy and Global Warming Policy Director Myron Ebell says of NASA. "É So this looks like climate gate all over again to us." ...

U.N. Calls For Probe Into Climategate

Andrew Thomas -- TG Daily

The Chairman of the UN panel on climate change, the IPCC, says he wants an investigation into claims that scientists at the University of East Anglia (UEA) manipulated and then destroyed the raw data that forms the basis for nearly all reports into climate change -- including those from the IPCC itself. The Climategate scandal threatens to derail the upcoming Copenhagen Climate Conference as a growing number of people are now viewing claims of anthropogenic global warming with suspicion. ...

"Why Isn't This A Bigger Story?"

Lorne Gunter -- National Post

The American and British scientists who control much of the UN's climate reporting through the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC)have been caught manipulating the temperature records to make the 20th century appear warmer than it was (and preceding centuries cooler), leaving an exaggerated impression about how unique and dangerous our current climate is. They were also shown doing their level best to control the peer-review process at major scientific journals so those who disagreed with them were silenced. ...

The Economics Of Climate Change

Wall Street Journal

The e-mails and documents leaked last week from some of the world's leading climatologists offer a rich trove of evidence that scientists were massaging the data and corrupting the scientific process to support their own preconceptions. But they also offer the beginnings of an explanation for why. In the words of another famous leaker, follow the money. To keep the money flowing, climate scientists needed to keep the fear going. Anything that called into question their most dire predictions of climate catastrophe would put funding at risk. On the other hand, the bigger the climate calamity, the more willing governments became to fund global-warming research. Keeping the dissenters on the outside was not simply a matter of academic jealousy. It was in many cases a question of professional survival. ...

Matthew Davidson -- Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering, MIT

Many corporate media outlets have refused to report on this story. Indeed much of the biased reporting recently put forth as journalism by CNN, The New York Times, etc. has presented anthropogenic global warming as a foregone conclusion. In reality, there is a great deal of disagreement among scientists on the subject. These communications reveal a trail of manipulation and concealment of data that would not support the theory of anthropogenic global warming. This is shameful and cannot be ignored by the scientific community. This corruption must be investigated and the individuals responsible must be tried for any illegal acts committed. ...

Hundreds of private e-mail messages and documents hacked from a computer server at a British university are causing a stir among global warming skeptics, who say they show that climate scientists conspired to overstate the case for a human influence on climate change. "IPCC Elite Embarrassingly, If Not Criminally, Compromised"

Rebecca Terrell And Ed Hiserodt -- New American Magazine

Among the IPCC elite embarrassingly, if not criminally, compromised is Phillip D. Jones, a Ph.D. climatologist at the University of East Anglia whose work figured prominently in the IPCC Third Assessment Report of 2001. Jones also contributed significantly to the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report in 2007 (AR4), but he failed to follow through when skeptical investigators asked to review raw data associated with that report. They announced intent to use UK Freedom of Information laws to obtain the data, so Jones sent the following e-mail to one of his collaborators: "Mike, Can you delete any e-mails you may have had with Keith re AR4? Keith will do likewise.... Can you also e-mail Gene and get him to do the same?... Will be getting Caspar to do likewise." The Mike in this message is Michael Mann, professor of meteorology at Pennsylvania State University, whose influential "hockey stick" graph warning of pending global warming eco-catastrophe was found by a congressional investigation to be fraudulent. In another correspondence about AR4 labeled HIGHLY CONFIDENTIAL, Jones contacted Mann regarding research critical of their global warming platform. "I can't see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report," wrote Jones. "Kevin and I will keep them out somehow -- even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!" ...

The scammers set up phony companies that promise "guaranteed" placement in high-paying jobs. All the job seeker has to do is pay a hefty, upfront fee. "They place ads in newspapers or on the Internet, even on legitimate Web sites," Ohio Attorney General Richard Cordray said. "They promise exclusive information, good money and professional experience, but the jobs are either non-existent or very low-paying." The scammers often charge high fees for job information, training sessions or promotional materials, all of which turn out to be useless, Cordray says. March Report Podcast

News and Opinion Presented by Robert Jay March

52:36. Recorded
Friday, October 30, 2009
TOPICS DISCUSSED:

Is Glenn Beck a Hero, a Coward ... or BOTH?

Indisputibly, Glenn Beck has provided heroic service to this country on his radio and cable-tv program by exposing the unconstitutional socialization of the United States by the Obama Administration. That said, it appears that he has caved to pressure regarding Certifi-Gate, the occupation of the White House by a constitutionally ineligible electee. Robert Jay March thoroughly analyzes this, exposing the pressures that he and other on-air talent have had placed them by corporate honchos who care more about their profits than our country.
Fox News was set up by Roger Ailes, a former president of CNBC and the late, lamented America's Talking Network, the pre-cursor of MSNBC. March discusses the hidden motivation behind Ailes' building of Fox News into the only television news operation that is not a press-release service for the Obama Administration, not to mention crushing MSNBC and CNN. Do you think the execs at GE are wishing they could turn the clock back?
What does the late, unlamented Hernando Cortés have to do with MarchReport.com? Robert Jay March explains the two-month gap since his last podcast, as he worked behind the scenes to make MarchReport.com bigger and better, while burning all his other boats behind him. March describes how he came to be disabled and home-bound eight years ago, yet continued to work 100 to 120 hours a week running two businesses throughout it all.
Manuel Zelaya, the deposed President of Honduras, who was legally removed from office in accordance with the Honduran Constitution, is being returned to office as a result of pressure from the Obama administration. Hmmm ... they pressured the Honduran Government to restore a President who had violated their Constitution and been legally removed from office. Wonder why? March thinks he knows.

BBC News (UK)

Gates reiterated that all options -- including possible military action -- should stay on the table. He was speaking to US troops during a visit to northern Iraq. His comments come a day after the US, Britain and France warned that Iran faced tougher sanctions unless it immediately complied with UN Security Council resolutions. Mr Gates said: "I think that you are going to see some significant additional sanctions imposed by the international community, assuming the Iranians don't change course." ...

Copenhagen Climate Summit In Disarray After 'Danish Text' Leak

John Vidal -- Guardian (UK)

The so-called Danish text, a secret draft agreement worked on by a group of individuals known as "the circle of commitment" -- but understood to include the UK, US and Denmark -- has only been shown to a handful of countries since it was finalised this week. The agreement is a departure from the Kyoto protocol's principle that rich nations, which have emitted the bulk of the CO2, should take on firm and binding commitments to reduce greenhouse gases, while poorer nations were not compelled to act. The draft hands effective control of climate change finance to the World Bank; would abandon the Kyoto protocol -- the only legally binding treaty that the world has on emissions reductions; and would make any money to help poor countries adapt to climate change dependent on them taking a range of actions. ...

TARP Fact Check: Obama Likes Both Sides Of An Argument

Jim Kuhnhenn And Calvin Woodward -- Associated Press

In Barack Obama's hands, the $700 billion financial rescue fund offers a bit of bookkeeping magic: an opportunity to pay down the deficit while also spending more, thereby adding to it. Under law, any paybacks to the bailout known as the Troubled Asset Relief Program must be used to reduce the deficit. But in an economic speech on Tuesday, Obama sought to have it both ways. Increased repayments from banks to the Treasury will reduce the deficit all right, but it will give Congress the budgetary room to spend more -- and he encouraged just that. ...

Q: When Is A Tiger A Cheetah?
A: When He's a Dog

by Robert Jay March

The first time I became aware of Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods was when I was 26 years old and he was 3. I watched as he appeared, with his late father Earl Woods, on The Mike Douglas Show as a "golf prodigy," putting against Bob Hope. At the time, he seemed to be the sweetest child on the face of the planet, and, being an expectant father who had just recently lost his own father, I found myself inspired by him, and hoped for a great future for him. After all, how could such a talented child fail? How could such a sweet child who was so close to his father ever do anything wrong?

I can't give you a precise air date for the program because, in those days, satellite distribution did not yet exist, and syndicated programs were distributed by bicycle messengers, hauling 2-inch video tape cartridges from city to city. What aired in January in one market might not air until July in another.

Nowadays, information travels a lot faster. As this is being written, six women have come forward claiming to have had affairs with Tiger Woods. The elapsed time between each woman's declaration and the whole world's knowing of it was virtually zero.

On November 27, 2009, Tiger Woods crashed his car into a fire hydrant near his home. The National Enquirer had already run a story about his alleged affair with Rachel Uchitel, and the accident, coupled with rumors that it occurred due to Wood's fleeing his home to escape an angry, golf-club wielding wife flashed around the world at the speed of, well, a man fleeing from a golf-club wielding wife. Since then, we've learned about Jamie Grubbs, Kalika Moquin, Jamie Jungers, Cori Rist and Mindy Lawton, with rumors of more to come.

One thing Woods and I have in common is that we are both Buddhists. He was born into the faith, while I converted 38 years ago. Twelve years ago, I adopted a life-style of celibacy: partly for religious reasons, and partly because, like Woods, I was having difficulty leaving my putter in the bag when that was where it should be. Much like an alcoholic who does not dare touch a drink, while others can drink responsibly, I found that "putting the cork in the bottle" for good was the only way to deal with a serious flaw in my character. On the other hand, I can safely discuss the wisdom of this decision with Jose Cuervo or Jack Daniels, and keep it brief.

Buddhism teaches us to divest ourselves of attachments, because attachments are at the root of all pain. Material things can act as anesthetics, muting that pain while not addressing the cause. Due to his talent, Tiger Woods has gained an abundance of material things in his young life, but apparently not the maturity to deal with them. When one gets so much so early, one can easily develop the delusion that one is living a charmed life; that delusion inevitably leads to disaster. When one has so much ready cash, it always attracts those who are only interested in the size of your wad. What do you expect when one of your mistresses stars in "Tool Academy?"

A couple of days after the initial revelations, Woods issued a self-serving statement, wherein he said, "the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one's own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions." What planet are you living on, dude?

I learned the hard way, a long time ago, that the only way to protect your secrets is not to have any. When you make your living in the public eye, the public's eye is always on you: when it's convenient and when it's not. Especially when it's not.

It has been reported that, as a result of his infidelity, Elin Nordegren Woods has renegotiated her prenuptial agreement with Tiger. The original prenup granted her $20 million provided the marriage lasted for 10 years. Now, reports say that the amount has been increased to $80 million, and that she got an immediate additional $5 million as a "signing bonus." Who negotiated this deal, Jerry Maguire? In exchange, Elin will keep her mouth closed. Oh, you can count on that, my man; hermetically sealed. This relationship sounds more like a mergers-and-acquisitions deal than a marriage, but I think I can safely say that there won't be much merging going on anytime soon.

Tiger's father Earl was an inspirational man. He attended Kansas State University on a baseball scholarship, and broke the Big Eight Conference "color barrier." He was good enough to be offered a contract by the Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Leagues, which he turned down so he could finish college. When he was not allowed to get off the bus for a game in Mississippi, the entire team supported him and left without playing. Earl Woods served two full tours of duty in the Vietnam War, and was part of the Green Berets. He went on to become a Professor of Military Science & Tactics at CUNY.

One can only wonder if recent events would have played out as they did (or if they would have occurred at all) had Earl Woods still been around to talk some sense into his son. Regrettably, Earl died in 2006 of prostate cancer. Tiger might have been better off if Earl never taught him how to play golf. At Stanford University, Tiger majored in Economics, where he was nicknamed "Urkel" after the character on the ABC sitcom Family Matters.

Somehow, I can't see Ms. Uchitel, et al. doing the Urkel Dance with a nerdy economist. However, I can envision Tiger asking "You love me, don't you?" of the betrayed Elin, as Urkel would have asked Laura Winslow. Elin might reply, "Sure, baby, $80 million worth...and counting."

Certifi-Gate! America In Captivity

YEST Closed Chrysler Dealers To Challenge Obama's Eligibility

Bob Unruh -- World Net Daily

Two lawyers, Leo Donofrio and Stephen Pidgeon, have joined forces to assemble a case challenging in U.S. bankruptcy court the federal government's use of Troubled Asset Relief Program funds to bail out Chrysler and in doing so may have created a scenario that finally will bring to a head the issue of Barack Obama's eligibility to be president. Their new case questions the authority by which the federal government and administration officials intervened in the auto industry, specifically allocating some $8 billion-plus to Chrysler, which later was forgiven. The clients in the case are former Chrysler dealers who lost their businesses as part of the "restructuring" of the automobile company. They have been damaged with the loss of their businesses, and the case alleges the Obama administration, through its use of TARP money, influenced Chrysler's outcome. Along with a bankruptcy court challenge, a "quo warranto" case is being filed in Washington, D.C., demanding to know by what authority administration officials set up the financial arrangements with Chrysler and handed out taxpayer money. As part of the demand for information about the authority used, Donofrio confirmed, there will be questions about Obama's eligibility to be president. ...

Rants & Raves from Our Readers

A reader who wishes to remain anonymous sent in this criticism:

Mr. March, You linked the video of Hillary Clinton having what has been referred to as an 'outburst' on your site, yet, you did not explain the context. You omitted the truth and presented the situation as another crazy Clinton moment. You not only misportrayed the situation, you lost an opportunity to share/address the plight of women who have no rights in their country. I have been a long time reader of your March Report and have shared the Report with many people. I wrote to you addressing the Clinton video and have seen no retraction or explanation. I won't be referring anyone to this page anymore. My belief and trust that you maintain objectivity and research all sides has been permanently altered recently. Consevative or not, you have always seemed to work at being fair and true to journalism. I now am seeing you differently.

Robert Jay March Responds:

This reader has mischaracterized the report. In fact, we went out of way to add clarity to the situation. The copy proved by WMAQ-TV, the televsion station which provide the report through one of our syndicators, said "A Congolese university student seems to presume that Bill Clinton's opinion is more important than the current Secretary of State's." In order to portray the situation accurately, we rewrote the copy to read as follows (emphasis added): "As a result of a translator's error, a Congolese university student appears to presume that Bill Clinton's opinion is more important than the current Secretary of State's. Hillary explodes, and hilarity ensues. Oh, those wacky, wacky Clintons." That was all the information that was available on August 11, 2009, when we ran the story. Witty retort aside, we went out of our way to clarify the report. Further details from the State Department and the White House did not become available until the following day.

Another reader, who wish to be referred to by the nom de plume "Needles," has an unusual take on the Certifi-Gate crisis:

The birthers need to step back and consider the consequences of their actions. If Mr. Obama were to be declared ineligible, there are several possible outcomes. They could remove him from office and install Joe Biden as President. The argument would be made that if Mr. Obama was not eligible to run for President, then the ticket is invalid as well and Joe Biden should not be Vice President. The next person in the order of succession would be Speaker of the House; Nancy Pelosi. Because no eligible candidate received a majority of electoral votes, the selection of the President could be thrown into the House. Speaker Nancy Pelosi, would then be king-maker. The choices are Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi or someone Nancy Pelosi picks. Maybe it is best to leave the birth certificate matter alone.

Robert Jay March Responds:

Mr. Obama being declared ineligible does not legally invalidate Biden's election, provided he is qualified. Even if it did, the Constitution is too important to ignore; it is all that separates us from tyranny. Regardless of the consequences, if in fact Mr. Obama is ineligible, he must be removed. That said, all we have thus far is the preponderance of evidence leading to a likely conclusion, not conclusive facts. That is why the revelation of the long-form birth certificate is so important.

Finally, a third reader who wish to be referred to by the nom de plume "unihawker," writes:

Dear Mr. March, I was watching TV the other night and they showed a clip of Obama in Kenya during his trip there during the campaign. I am not sure if it was just some Freudian slip or not, but he said as he was waiving to the people greeting him, "Thank you, it is great to be back home". My question was, If he was not born in that country why would he call it home?

Robert Jay March Responds:

Good question, for which I have no answer. If this report is correct, it is yet another contribution to the preponderance of evidence that implies Mr. Obama is ineligible. A copy of the long form birth certificate would cost Mr. Obama $12; thus far he has spent $1.3 Million to avoid producing it. As in any investigation, follow the money: in this case, what money is being spent on to conceal.
